Easter on the Lake

We had the lovely opportunity to travel to Sheffield Lake for Easter and to spend time with 3 of Jordan's sisters and parents. We even got to meet baby Honor for the first time! It was a roaring and fun time with a total of 22 people at Easter dinner. Wowza.

To start things off right... here a picture of little Oskar in his car seat while we waited to begin an Easter egg hunt at Lakeview Park in Lorain.

We woke up early on Saturday morning, had the kids in the car by 7:00am and drove up to Lorain to get some eggs with all of the cousins!

It was a cold morning but the kids didn't seem to mind.. how cute is Robert in that hat?!

Lily was excited and ready to go with her sunglasses and basket

It was a crazy egg hunt - all the younger kids picked all their eggs in like 2 minutes, and then this sea of preschoolers started moving onto the next field. All eggs were had in 3 minutes and under. Robert quickly understood what was going on; he was to pick up and egg and place it in the basket and then giggle and squeal as he looked for another. Too cute!

The spoils of the egg hunt - candy and toys!

Looking at a 'sticker' or what I would usually call a fake tattoo. That darn rainforest frog is still on her forearm even though I scrub it every single night in the bath. Oh well..

Henry, Lily, Robert and Autumn (although she isn't in this shot) played outside in the backyard and loved all the exploring they could do. Lots and lots of dirt (for gardening), pretty flowers, plants, tools and Niko.

After the Easter egg hunt and nap time, we let the kids go through their Easter baskets on Saturday - we call it Secular Saturday. We do all the silly, secular things - egg hunts, Easter bunny, baskets, candy and any other nonsense on that day. On Sunday, we just focus on church and a delicious meal, together as a family.

Naturally, I bought too many things but I have faith that one day I will curb my enthusiasm. I would like to put more spiritual thought into the baskets as the kids get older and understand more. I think next year will be good. I still couldn't bring myself to tell Lily the story of Christ's crucifixion. I mean.. it's super violent and sad. But, we did talk about how Jesus died and rose again to live forever...the happy part! Although she was still pretty hung up on the fact that he had to die in the first place ;)

Game time for the boys - Evan, Guy, Connor, Ken, Jordan and Robert.

The next morning (after being up with Robert from 3am-5am) we all got ready for church. Not a super great picture, but look at all those cutie girls - Autumn, Lily, Adelle and Scarlet

Robert waiting in the car for Mommy to finish getting ready, argyles and all

Autumn and Lily all ready for Easter church services!

Later that afternoon we enjoyed  a lovely meal full of chicken, ham, funeral potatoes, broccoli salad, tossed salad, orange rolls, dinner rolls, deviled eggs and topped it off with carrot cake and striped delight. Then we all shared our testimonies around the table.

Afterwards, we decided to walk down to 809 and say hello.

When we returned, the kids chalked, played in the backyard, danced to music and said their goodbyes. We had a great trip!
