At the end of May, Jordan and Lily planted sunflower seeds.
Jordan and Lily had their first earth science experiment and it was so adorable! The planted a few sunflower seeds into each little cup with dirt in it. Lily was hands on the entire process and quickly began to understand what was going on.
She helped him make little holes for the seeds. Then she dropped the seeds in, 3 in each cup. Then Lily helped Daddy get the dirt from the garden into a big bucket. She then took her mini shovel and poured it on top of the seeds until Daddy said there was enough dirt.
After that, Daddy told her that seeds and all plants need two things: water and sunlight.
(Look at that cheesy little cutie smile!)
Lily and Daddy then poured water, in a small amount, on all the seeds. And then they placed them on the large windowsill so they could get lots of sunlight.
Each morning, Lily would be hoisted up to look at the seeds and she was so surprised when she saw a little bit of bright green peaking out from the brown soil!!
Each day she would check on her sprouts and watch them grow and grow, taller and taller. Daddy would help her water them with just the right amount. She would move the plants out onto to patio to make sure they got enough sunlight. Then, they planted them in the ground. Unfortunately, they did not make it... :( But Lily doesn't know that, and I think we'll keep it that way :)

so did you plant other seedlings in their place? so she would see other plants coming up? I sigh here...remembering a story my mom told me about me and my dad before he died. Thanx for this tender memory. And thanx for immortalizing Lily's
